Hardy Elephant Ear
This is a very ornamental plant with giant green leaves with contrasting veins up to 60 cm long, coloured dark purple on the undersides. It thrives in well drained, fertile moist soil. It is a hardy form of the 'Elephant's ear', the roots will survive 10 degrees of frost but it is better to protect the leaves to save it dying right back in winter. Can be grown in a large pot and overwintered in a conservatory.
