A beautiful variety of hosta, ‘Aureomarginata’, has lance shaped leaves in mid to dark green with lovely golden yellow edges. The trumpet shaped, pale violet flowers appear in late summer. Hostas are prized for their lush attractive foliage; strong waxy leaves provide great ground cover and contrast well with other plants. An ideal plant to grow in drifts along a shaded border. Hostas make excellent subjects for container growing, forming striking clumps. They prefer shade and rich, moist but well drained soil. Propagate by division in early spring. Surround plants with a good layer of coarse grit each spring to protect them from slugs.
